Mylar works ok. I use a vacuum sealer and put a desiccant bag in each one. then pack the bucket full and put some desiccant bags in it and seal it.
A plastic bag will transfer oxygen in, a mylar bag will not allow any oxygen inward.
That's why they use mylar after freeze drying food with oxygen absorbers to prevent any oxidation.
What are you prepping for i think anything beyond 1 year is pointless. You need to be thinking about sustainability or your on a count down timer. I've got enough space and am growing enough stuff and rotate and replenish my stores regularly. The method I've been using works well enough for that and easily keeps stuff fresh for a year i know because I'm eating stuff from march 2020 and it's fine. I'll hunt bore and deer for meat and keep about 100 chickens right now.
Long term i just dehydrate stuff turn it into powder. Have different types of vegetables all ground into powder that can be rehydrated. Ive got a well and can disconnect from the grid for pretty much everything. How long term you wanna go 1 year is enough after that its time to leave your hole and fight.
So no Jim Bakker preppers for the Lord stuff, eh?
This* Plus probably a thick mylar to ensure no tear.
