My research said yes. If it’s an external filling, that’s one thing, but if it gets into the tooth center and you try to keep a dead or diseased tooth, it will cause a lot of random non specific ailments hard to trace back to the tooth.
A doctor did much research into this a long time ago, traveling around and asking people their ailments and then if they had a filling or root canal. He offered to pull the tooth and many had ailments resolved.

Yeah surface treatment is great, but keeping a literally necrotic tooth sounds really dumb.
