This week was 12 cans of corned beef and two more 5 gallon fuel containers. The biggest problem is running out of room for shit.

Reminder to get comfort items for mental health and variety, some jars of horseradish or dried mustard will pair well with that corned beef.

I pretty much by this time have thought of everything, so I thought. I do like mustard will have to look into the dried. Thanks.

If you have never used mustard powder before here are a few tips. Just add a little water to make a spicy paste similar to a strong condiment, add a little vinegar to the paste to get something more like a "normal yellow mustard". Cooking it will change its flavor and kill a lot of the heat it has, so if you want it for its spicy side add it close to the end.

We use it a lot in our house, from salad dressing, deviled eggs, and even rubs/marinades for meat.

Yeah, rubbing meat with mustard is good. I just havent thought about stocking any.

I have alot of garlic and black pepper in 2.5 cans. For long term storage, its getting hard to even find them anymore. I guess some more mylar and o2 are in my buy list.

I was trying to stock some of those Korean comfort women, but I guess they have laws against that. Lame.

How often do you swap out your fuel?

Just started stocking it last year. Changed it out recently, premium with stabil added. Gonna go two years with it.

Canning meat is kind of a pain in the dick but its awesome stuff. I can deer, bear and cougar meat. If your freezer goes tits up, your canned meat in the cupboard is fine. Problem is i like it so much its hard to keep it as emergency supplies. My parents have a big badass pressure cooker thats milled out of a single block of aluminum. Its pretty awesome. I just take a bunch of meat over to their place and hang out for the day and can a whole mess of shit. I want to get a smoker and start smoking and canning trout, see how that turns out.

Yeah I never got into canning, I mean realistically here if shtf there wont be water for growing shit. But I also wonder how long the lids will last, even reusable ones.

I thought you meant you canned some corned beef? Maybe i interpreted that wrong. Shit properly canned is good for years. Supposedly youll know when the seal is compromised, but as ive said mine never sits around long enough for me to find that out myself. Canned meat is really good and super convenient. I need to can more shit. This year i ground more burger than normal though.

Nope, bought commercially canned.

We live on solar and our system is not big enough to handle a deep freeze, even a 12V one. I can or dehydrate just about everything. I a lot of meat every year. It’s so flavorful. I “lost” a jar of pork for 2 years. It was still good and we ate it. Lost several jars of cranberry sauce canned in 2017. One seal was broken but the others were good.

I’ve not tried the reusable lids mainly because they are not recommended for fatty or greasy foods and most of what I can has some sort of fat in it.

I do the same. This week was another 25lbs of rice.

Last week spices were on sale. The 300gr and larger sizes. Bought Piment (mace), cinnamon, rosemary, thyme, laurel leaves, juniper berries, cloves, nutmeg, Himalayan salt, curries (garam and tandoori masala), turmeric and cumin. And dried chili flakes.

Dehydrated veg is excellent. Leeks, carrots, pastinaak, chives, peppers, and tomatoes although the last take long time to dry. Dehydrating fruit is also good. Cant make it when kids visit, keeps disappearing. The dehydrated kiwi tastes like skittles and the mango rarely makes it out of dehydrator. The cherries, they are soaking in spiced rum.

Don't forget to take care of your car if you have to GTFO quick. Some paper funnels, a quart of oil, and some basic tools in the trunk will serve you well.

Just in case. Be ready for anything.
