State declared a state of emergency

Town declared a state of emergency

Schools just shut down for 3 weeks

My Job closed all offices world wide for 2 weeks

Everyone around me is panicking about toilet paper and other basic supplies

Empty shelves at all of the stores

I had been considering pulling my kids out of school for a few weeks and now my wife and I are relieved that we do not have to pull our kids out of school and risk them having to repeat a grade. Other than that we just shut the front door and declared that we are not opening the door for 2 weeks. The sense of peace and satisfaction from knowing that we are well prepared and have basically no real worries for at least 6 months is overwhelming. If you are well prepared the end of the world will for the most part feel like a camping trip, not a catastrophe.

Lessons learned: Don't forget feminine hygiene products. My oldest daughter is now of that age and I had to run out for a few boxes.

Moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains 3 years ago. Found a house with a guest cabin on 5 acres with no neighbors in sight. No mortgage. Wifey now thinks I'm a genius. Prepped and happy in my whites-only little county. Perfect.

That is pretty genius. Would like a rural property myself.

Found my place for a mere 40k. Had to jump at it. Paid off in two years.

But best way in certain states is to do Adverse Possession. Had done this in Florida twice.

We are also officially bugged in as of today. The country (Czech Republic) closed it's borders, the kids have been out of school now for two weeks and with the borders closed my tourist industry business leaves me with a lot of time on my hands. I did a last minute run today but that is going to be it, for the near future we can make do with grocery deliveries but when that gives out (if it does which it won't) we have a tidy shelf to fall back on.

I'm just a bit annoyed that I have 12 filters on the way for my half-mask that I probably won't need to use (until it comes time to raid for supplies). I love 2020.

Went to just add to my stock today, shelves empty the ramen is gone how the hell did all the stores run out of ramen? I’ll be fine but I won’t be having chicken flavored noodles.

Take the beef flavored pill boobs, chicken is weak tier.

Typical instant ramen, even made in USA, gives me the shits. Probably something to do with the type of oil they fry the noodles in. Just a glance at the ingredients can tell you it's pseudo food.

I don't eat it very often, but it is shelf stable and if you throw in an egg maybe some veggies if you have it some pork it can be a decent quick meal.

Only use half of a flavor packet. The level of salt is excessive otherwise.

It is nuts watching people run around like idiots for TP and canned soup. While I'm sitting back with a full complement of preps.

I already felt prepped up but a couple weeks ago, but I stacked some more items just for the hell of it, weeks ago! Yesterday (3/13), was nuts in the stores around here. I saw various pictures on social media of empty shelves. It is hard to believe it took an actual declaration of emergency for people to decide, "hey maybe I should go get meh milk and bread!".

I don't understand people buying all the water either. Sure I have a lot of water at home but this isn't the type of emergency where utilities should be disrupted. Hell, I don't even expect food to scarce after this panic buying stops.

My parents have food for like 1 week and despite my warnings have decided ON PURPOSE to not get more because "that's hoarding"... guess I will wander the wasteland alone afterwards.

I'm really caught off guard moving right to Idaho when it all happened.

Will try to stock up as I can. I think people are freaking out about it less in Idaho than other areas.
