This is actually a follow-up to an earlier post lamenting that I was being forced into a new phone because my 3G one is no longer supported.

I was depressed and resigned to submitting to newer, more advanced, Google spyware.

That's why today I am sharing with you my joy in discovering that, so far, I have succeeded in bypassing, and even completely DISABLING Google's Play Store, and most other Google-related apps (Gmail, etc). Yet I still have all the apps I want and they work beautifully!

The secret? I found a sweet little open source substitute, which works even better than APK Pure.

Been using it for about a year now. make sure you toggle off "GSF dependent"

Personally, I can't recommend the aurora store more. I've also found a few winning apps on F-droid.

Good advice. What have you found on F-droid that you like?

The last two I downloaded from f-droid are a sudoku game and "cuppa". Cuppa is simply a timer for brewing tea.

The best non gsf app I've found on the aurora store is "endless calendar". It has prevented me from missing countless birthdays and appointments.

I have found that most apps are non gsf. People just allow them access to contacts, camera, microphone, etc anyway, by default even when not necessary at all.
