This is actually a follow-up to an earlier post lamenting that I was being forced into a new phone because my 3G one is no longer supported.

I was depressed and resigned to submitting to newer, more advanced, Google spyware.

That's why today I am sharing with you my joy in discovering that, so far, I have succeeded in bypassing, and even completely DISABLING Google's Play Store, and most other Google-related apps (Gmail, etc). Yet I still have all the apps I want and they work beautifully!

The secret? I found a sweet little open source substitute, which works even better than APK Pure.

Been using it for about a year now. make sure you toggle off "GSF dependent"

Personally, I can't recommend the aurora store more. I've also found a few winning apps on F-droid.

Good advice. What have you found on F-droid that you like?

The last two I downloaded from f-droid are a sudoku game and "cuppa". Cuppa is simply a timer for brewing tea.

The best non gsf app I've found on the aurora store is "endless calendar". It has prevented me from missing countless birthdays and appointments.

I have found that most apps are non gsf. People just allow them access to contacts, camera, microphone, etc anyway, by default even when not necessary at all.

If you're looking for APK files and on Telegram, may I suggest "modded central channel." Literally hundreds of thousands of APK files. Premium versions are available for most if not all APKs.

It is Telegram though so you would have to give up your phone number to create an account.

Good answer, and just what I expected. I only joined up as a way to save money on green screen editing APKs as some of the premium versions are available $40 (US) and up.

My android is a spy device. I need a safe os before I worry about safe apps.
