I thought the ovens were to make artisanal italian pizza for the people?

I'm so confused. My grandfather told me he ate his first stone baked pizza in Munich shortly after 1939.

Mussolini used the pizza ovens to win over Hitler who apparently loved the margarita as a vegetarian. Allegedly the prosciutto pizza was most popular with the people.

The popular tale ends with a communication breakdown as from 1939-1945, 6 gorillion pizzas were made and enjoyed by the people in war times to boost morale.
