Pic8 is part of Poal's submit code (through its API) and it isn't scaled for the increased traffic from the recent migration.
@picmanmight have to scale it up (or optimize the code like we did for poal)
It sucks. Use the link post and upload your own.
The reason is pic8 doesn't run on a beefy (expensive) server like other large image hosts do. Furthermore, the server is not located within the US, so the farther away you are from the server, the longer it will take to load the image.
I would move it to a better server, but I am not made of money (sadly).
Can you ask for more donations? It's getting worse since I made the post two days ago. Now it takes 5-10 seconds and sometimes the image never loads.
I don't currently ask for donations. But, I suppose I could. No one ever showed interest in it, so I assumed there was little interest from the community in supporting the site financially.
You should, if money is what's needed to improve performance. Poal is growing and the image host needs to handle the load as well. I'm sure there are people who would be willing to donate.
