My grandparents saw Woody Allen in Hollywood in the mid or late sixties. They said he looked filthy, yucky.
Not sure what exactly they meant (other than maybe he looked rather disheveled). It was a time that I was dreaming of stardom or being a film director, and they used this to dissuade me. None of the stars were what they were cracked up to be, and they met many.
I have a pic of them drinking with Hank Williams, it was used in Ken Burns' country music documentary and my cousin stole it and sent me photocopies lol.
He's quite the pervert though, amazing. Um, Woody, not my cousin. That I know of. So creative. And so deranged in the head (as Mia says to him, she's just a baby).

He was.an odd duck. And jewish.

Back in the days when Hollywood was elegant and glamorous. No one knew how degenerate it really was. I think your grandparents were a good judge of character. Still, it must have been amazing meeting so many of the stars back in the day!
Yes, quite the experiences.
