As a tech guy, I think it would be really cool. However, I am immediately hit with thoughts about compatibility, support from winblows or linsux, will you ever be able to fully realize the features of the device, etc.....

Do not buy a screen with freesync and then buy an Nvidia gpu. Waste of money.

Fair point

Freesync/gsync is like buying a brand new card, so glad I got a freesync screen rather than a new system first.

Another thing to remember about, thanks for the tip.

My biggest issue with this is the HDR 400, which is not really bright enough to give you the benefit of HDR. You want HDR 600 or ideally HDR 1000.

The Phillips is better IMO.

For porn absolutely. For gaming not so much.

I don't watch porn and neither should you, its bad for your soul.

Seen it in action at Worst Buy. It's cute, might be good if you specialize in FPS games. But I find the extra space in a full 4K display to be more useful. They also run $900, which is a bit much IMO.

Who needs a TV this big? Go outside and touch grass.

U got the graphics card for that? 4k at 60fps is one thing, 4k at 144fps needs twice the graphics output.

I think rtx 3080 will do allright

[–] 0 pt 3y

I wouldn't buy it, it has a terrible aspect ratio and 1080 vertically is unacceptable for anything larger than mobile.

What would you recommend then

[–] 0 pt 3y

Depends on your main use case. I personally prefer to have two 24"ish screens, one horizontally, one vertically.

Gaming. Will keep tv for movies.

Never understood the appeal of ultrawide screens.

Bigger fov

Comparing an ultrawidescreen monitor to a normal 16:9 UHD monitor (3820x2160), the ultrawidescreen monitor has the same width but smaller vertical resolution. Everything you can do with the ultrawidescreen monitor you can do with the UHD monitor, and more due to the extra vertical pixels.

Same goes for games. Games have an FOV slider. You can have the same FOV on the ultrawidescreen monitor as on a 16:9. The only difference is that the 16:9 monitor has more pixels vertically, allowing you to see more in the vertical direction. The ultrawidescreen is actually a disadvantage in this case, not an advantage, due to the missing pixels.

Aye after all those replies I think I will get 16:9 monitor after all

For a gaming console?

I use ASUS monitors and they have been great. Never had a curved display.

Pc master race

Oh okay. Just checking, not many use a TV as their main display.

What video card do you have?

[–] 1 pt 3y

Atm gtx1080, but getting new rig with rtx 3080 for that monitor.
