A red phantom and I were chasing a host through the undead settlement. He was running hard, straight to the boss gate, so I knew he had a fair amount of souls.
So, he makes the gate and runs beyond the fog, but doesn't trigger the boss. So, I sit down to wait. Either he has to fight me, trigger the boss fight or disconnect.
So, this dude sends me a friend request on steam, and I immediately accepted. I knew that this was going to be something interesting. I thought for a second that maybe he was going to ask me to kill the other phantom (gladly).
Instead, he was informing me that he was "getting ready for work" and was "going to leave the computer on" while he was at work and that he didn't want to waste my time, but he was too scared to fight and didn't want to lose his souls.
He basically said that he was too big a coward to actually fight and would essentially hide up a tree until he got back from work rather than take a well deserved loss.
I laughed at him and told that it's was one of the most embarrassing displays of cowardice I'd seen. He told me to eat shit.
I told him maybe he was better suited to play skyrim on his wii. He didn't respond.
I told him to have fun at work. He blocked me.
