You old farts and your tubes. Admittedly, I find it really cool but just not enough to invest my time in it.

The first big project I did in vocational school was a AA5 tube radio. Kind of fostered a love for the stupid things.

They're usually much simpler to work on, both because you can't load them with features like modern stuff, and they tend to me more "here's a stage, here's a stage, troubleshoot each one in line."

Tube lineup is:

2x 6C4 used as preamps. 1x 6AK6 low-power pentode final 1x 5Y3GT rectifier 1x 6E5 magic eye

It's just a we-get-signal device for troubleshooting radios, so you don't need a lot of sound power.
