Nice!
Telefunken didn't really sell a lot of tubes in the USA, they had some radio sales in the 60s but it was just kind of an unknown name so they didn't do well.
That's good to hear you can still get the stuff. I guess the last people I spoke to (non-USA) about that were in Britain, and they indicated that tubes were scarce. Here, we made so damn many during the war that you still find war-contract stuff.
If you're looking for cheaper tubes for the preamps, avoid the 12AX7 that everyone loves. You can get things like 12SN7 or some of the old octal single-triode audio amp tubes at odd voltages for a song. People love 6V tubes, 25V tubes? Not so much.
I've got my own junk stash, but I know what you mean. So you know what tubes to avoid.
I've been buying up a lot of what I need to keep my old stuff going, and I've been acquiring a few in the hopes I can find a AA5 shockbox I like at Dayton Hamvention this year. I whittled what I had down but this is what I have left:
Mostly RCA, GE, Tung-Sol, Sylvania, and Raytheon, with a few Motorola and other makes in there. Had boxes of the things but who needs a case full of 6GH8?
