Facebook keeps a shadow profile on you, but then, every website we visit can do the same.

All that means is they know you are using the same browser you used last time.

How is that useful in any way?

If they tie your browser fingerprint to a known account (piece of cake), they can track your activity across the internet. All you need to do is end up on a site (like Trump's blog) where there's a social media button or something to grab your fingerprint.

Trump's blog is now part of the dragnet.
