They're dirty. This will take a little while. I'll post updates of my progress.

Update 1:

Testing to see if it works. This one has the "red blinking light".

Update 2:

Someone has been in this before. These screws aren't even in all the way.

Update 3:

All torn apart. Time for cleaning.

Update 4:

Trade secrect. To clean contacts like this just use a pencil eraser.

Update 5:

Connectors all cleaned. Capacitors all tested. Time for a new 72 pin connector, piece it all back together and test it out.

Update 6:

Almost forgot. Redoing the thermal compound on the only heatsink in the system. Take the old compound off with high % isopropyl alcohol. New thermal compound is arctic silver 5.

Update 7:

Where’d you get them?

These I bought off ebay as is/broken.

I get them in all the time on trade ins. I have 5-6 more that need cleaning/refurbishing.

That’s pretty cool, sounds like a cool hobby

What goes into refurbishing an NES? Any difficult skills?

Depends on how rough of shape they're in. Some soldering skills and a cap tester. Otherwise just attention to detail, cleaning supplies, and a 72 pin connector.

Do you sell a bunch of games as well or are those your babies?

I own a small game store. It's more of a hobby than a second job.

I'd post pics but that would make me really easy to dox.

Oh okay. Whats the rarest game you have there?

I have a bunch of rares. I pride myself in having a great selection.

Bucky O'Hare for NES is one of the more rare games.

Mega Man X3 for SNES.

And a bunch of Complete in the Box games.
