We've occasionally watched anime on TV night (thursdays ~18:30 eastern). While a lot of people love it, it also has a tendency to completely clear out the channel, because a lot of people don't. Therefore, from now on anime is going to be completely segregated to it's own separate but equal event night.

If anyone has suggestions for what they'd like to watch, series or movies, post them below. Here's a few I'm probably going to start with:

  • Girls und Panzer (girls fighting each other in tanks, I already have it download and several episodes processed)

  • Vinland Saga (vikings, ditto)

  • Rescue Wings (Slice of life anime about a helicopter rescue pilot in the Japanese airforce)

  • Patlabor (imagine "police academy" except with mechs)

  • Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (gritty and cynical political anime set in a dark cyberpunk future, lots of gunporn)

Edit:

  • High School of the Dead (Silly zombie series about a bunch of high school kids surviving an outbreak)

It's decent. Lots of talking which people might not like, but the guns and tanks make up for that.

I wont have time to watch but here is some things to look at.

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (The red eyed armored death squad videos I am sure you have seen.) However the movie is VERY slow and might not be a good fit for the format and audience.

The "Neo Tokyo" Collection

If I find more I will reply, also good call on Patlabor, I love those.

Jin Roh is great. We watched the live action films on the channel before. I'll check out neotokyo for sure.
