So this is going to be a new Moshi feature. Every Monday, I will be reviewing a random manga, and making recommendations (Or Not).
This week: My Girl (A Pleasure to Live With You)
This is the story of a mid 20s man (Masamune) , who has a daughter he never knew existed (Koharu). After a series of events with his ex-girlfriend (the girls mom), he winds up taking custody of Koharu. The manga then shows the daily events and struggles of a man thrust into a father role, being completely unprepared for it, and the ghosts of his past he struggles to over come.
At 44 chapters, it's a medium length manga which feels reasonably well paced for the most part. While the conflict and troubles encountered in the story may not seem huge in comparison to many action adventure offerings, it does a good job reflecting the reality of becoming a single parent when you're completely unprepared. If I DO have a complaint, it would be that the story ends somewhat abruptly, and leaves you bit unfulfilled. That aside, it's a wonderful manga, and a recommended read if your looking for a relaxing slice of life.
