The evidence to support their claim of having been here 40k years (or 60k or 65k years, whatever their claim is) is very shaky. There were hominids in Australia 40k years ago. They were likely to blame for the mass extinction of almost all large animals in the continent. These were not the modern aborigines though. The current lot of abos arrived much later, perhaps as recently as 4k years ago, though likely in multiple waves from around 12k years ago emanating out of Southern India (native Tamil people). When they arrived, they busied themselves hunting down and eating the prior inhabitants, and probably breeding with them a bit too. These were the people who brought dingos, which are very similar to the native dogs of India. There is also much shared language between Tamil and many Australian aboriginal tribes and full blood abos closely resemble Tamil natives or Sri Lanka.

Whatever the case, Australian aborigines are primative, superstitious, dim witted and extremely violent. They are a species of human that has failed to launch.
