At my elementary school, we kids and even the p.e. coach/nurse called it "monkey blood." That oyster shell based asphalt playground was a terror.

We had both ... I still have that old bottle of iodine. Used up the Mercurochrome first 40+ years ago.
It does not count unless your wounds were cleaned with hydrogen peroxide first.
My mom made me stand on the tiolet, and she'd brush that shit on my knees. Talk about tap dancing...
