"Ma'am, I see you have all season tires, we're going to need to swap out the winter air for spring air. Shall I book you in now for May when we can swap out the spring air for summer air? If you book now, it is normally $100 per tire, but you'll get 4 tires done for the price of 3."

They make modern cars horrible to work on on purpose. Hopefully an you can find an upstanding mechanic. And you keep your fingers crossed that they're not going to tell you that everything is broken and you'll need $6,000 worth of repairs.

Going to a dealership is just as horrible because they'll tell you you need $8,000 worth of repairs and they'll break another 8 Grand worth of shit trying to get the $8,000 done that they originally quoted you.

Newer cars are not even going to be able to be worked on anywhere else but the dealership. And at the global labor rates pushing $200 an hour people aren't even going to own their own vehicles anymore. Who the hell can afford a breakdown.

What I find sneaky is that every dealership no matter what the brand of vehicle is keeps their labor rates at the same it's like they have a coordinated butt fucking. Every place that I go to is between $170 to $190 an hour now, no matter where you are in the country.

It's going to start looking like Mexico with their Volkswagen beetles. We have a lot of 20 yr old Toyotas and Honda's on the road. Many will still be pursued 10 years from now.

I still kind of kick myself for trading in my Subaru. Yeah it's a homo car but it's all wheel drive was just the best. The problem with Subaru is they leak from every gasket while most of that issue is simply just adding a little bit of fluid here and there it's a little nerve-racking nonetheless.

I love that my wife regularly schools guys on diesel info when they try this crap on her. Feelsgoodman

Labor charges for wipers or air filters fucking kill me. Same with bulbs and batteries. Although some of those bulbs where you have to take off the whole front clip I can understand. Stupid designs....

I had an oil change and my license plate light was out which bad on me as I never noticed. Anyways, they wanted to charge me 15 minutes of labor to put it in. Naw, just give me the bulb dude. I get that it is a business, but you'd think they'd do it as a courtesy.

To be fair, some wipers, bulbs, and air filters can be a total bitch to change. And when that’s the case, there’s a good chance you paid $50 for an air filter or bulb and the oil change person broke some shit.

Like I said about some of the front blubs where you have to take the clip off to get to the assembly. I haven't ran into any issues with filters or wipers that were difficult. I guess the worst filter was a cabin air, but it was behind the glove box which was easy enough to get to.

the oil change person broke some shit.

It's hard to find good mechanics. Luckily I found a good one within walking distance. I like to do some stuff myself, but other things it just isn't worth it anymore. I probably haven't done in a brake job in 10 years.
