"Do it for others" that comes from the authority is a "divide and conquer" tactic, plain and simple.
If you truly want to care for others, you would best start with people closest to you, and don't stress too much about what complete strangers do or tell you to do.
People have put way too much faith into people they have never met in person but seen through the media, just because they seem to be an authority.
