I wish the writer would have used his knowledge of a bare-bones-grammar-language and applied that thought process to the writing of this article. His "writing style" comes across as the same "style" of writing that damn near every article writer uses today: trying to "connect" to the reader by providing personal information that is really a thinly veiled attempt to inflate their importance to the reader. Useless information that does nothing for the reader except waste our time.
Without looking up a picture of the author, I am going to guess that he is some dork, who has the looks of somewhere between Mark Zuckerberg and that liberal professor with a neck that is about a foot long. He spent his time watching Japanese cartoons and wrongly thought that if he moved to Japan and learned their language, he would be able to get a hot Japanese chick. Now he is just waiting for his "big break" in order to gain enough fame to finally be able to get the attention of a beautiful woman.
It was on Hacker News, home of bad techie writing.
