Latin was corrupted by noses. Latin is a powerful language and had to be destroyed mainly due to its memetic nature. To explain this simply, why do you expect so many mottos and mantras are said in Latin.

Otherwise, many many languages are derived from Latin. It was intended to be, I suspect at least, the common tongue we often see referenced in various media formats, especially alternative history sci-fi/middle earth-esque stories.

Latin is a dead language...so the words meanings do not change.

Our current English words that offer definition do change...but the original meaning of the Latin words do not change
