I can speak from experience on how hard it is to "out" an abusive parent. While I was not sexually abused, I faced verbal, psychological, and physical abuse at the hands of my birth mother. I can remember explaining the bruses as being the result of "rough play" or "play fighting." I was afraid that if I told anyone what was going on she would really kill me as she had threatened to do numerous times. My dad was around but he was too much of a chicken shit to do anything. I guess he figured, better me than him...
