They argue about the rules of lowering heretics into pits and not letting animals get into the pits because it defiles the punishment (Jews have super weird rules about everything). I think the famous murderous Talmud quote about killing heathens is from Tractate Soferim 15:10 that says "Kill the best of the heathens in time of war;" I still don't know exactly what that means.
