I know what rabbi means, but how does that relate to the chosen people? Doesn't "chosen" imply selection from among an established group, whereas Hebrews claim their lineage from the first man? I haven't encountered Hebrew apologetics, so I don't know what they would say to accusations of being ethnic/religious supremacists. The typical response is that it's antisemetic to even ask.
