I have had doctors try to give me all kinds of crazy shit for even minor pain. I just told them I wouldn't fill it and to give me some of the "prescription strength ibuprofen" or something. I feel like that has been a good choice.
I always look up anything they try to give me. Half of the time they are just slinging whatever they are being given a kickback for. (Not always literal but often is).
This is the only stat you need to know about doctors/medication/health care to realize you should be taking it into your own hands often as well as for your family.
Over 70% of deaths in long term care facilities are human caused and often medical errors. If you have someone you care about in LTC, watch their charts like a hawk and talk to the nurses to make sure things are exactly as what they are giving (sometimes they don't check for updates).
Knowing that alone, just think about how often you probably were given something you didn't need or was not the right thing for the condition.
