In New York violent criminals run free but Lord help you if you befriend a squirrel. I have discovered that wild animals are intelligent beings, so much so that I was able to befriend a herd of deer. They allowed me to walk among them. Each deer had its own personality. Shortly after my granddaughter was born, it carried her outside to meet a particular deer. The very next day that deer brought her fawn, unknown to us before then, to show to us. Clearly he stood what she was doing. I would be frightened at the idea of introducing my baby granddaughter to any New York official though.
This is the same deep blue state that put covid patients in nursing homes and killed countless seniors.
Clearly New York state officials are rabid. They need to be tested for rabies.

He had 7 years to get a permit. He had been warned about this multiple times by those who work with wildlife but he ignored them. And the animals paid the price.

Basically, your saying if you don't obey a tyrant threatening you, and the tyrant murders someone, it's your fault for not obeying the tyrant?
I ignored the tyrants when they demanded i get vaccinated. If people around me die due their idiocy, I suppose it's my fault for not complying with officials.

This was an unnecessary and excessive exertion of power and control by a governmental agency in NY. The animals could have been placed with a wildlife rescue or rehabilitation program and used for education and awareness. Now they serve to educate the general public on government overreach.

It's the outrageous tyranny people are pissed at. There was no reason to murder the squirrel except to show force. Fuckers! Those fucks are not human.
