Sounds like decades of mismanagement shut down the school and this was the perfect excuse to blame something else.

There is literally nothing on those computers they can't do without. Whatever grades were lost can be either recovered from physical copies or determined by a test. And "closing down" has nothing to do with how this semester ends. It simply means they won't be open for the next semester. So literally nothing on those computers matters for that.
