I was just thinking about that yesterday. I can't wrap my head around how you think without having an inner monologue. How do you absorb what you read? I just thought everyone says what they ware reading in their head.

For good reason. They can't. They simply react to stimuli in a programmed manner. It's about wants and desires and reactions to the world around them.
The fact you have a monologue actually makes you special. Your mom is right.
just to put more info out there while we're on the subject... many jews can't visualize. It's one reason why they're so susceptible to memes. Encode information visually, and it will be more likely to fly under their radar.

The inner monologue, as least as I understand it with myself since that's the only head I can get inside, is also having a conversation with yourself about the content. Like if you were talking in the mirror and role-playing your reflection is someone else.
