The hundred dollar cheeseburger is like the 100 foot yacht -- something I don't have, don't want, and will never buy.

It's just greed. I have a buddy who worked as a waiter at a nice place and would make really good tips.

After the restaurant re-opened after being shut down for covid stuff, they decided - no more tips, everyone is going to make $35,000/yr, and we're going to add 24% to every bill. That way they get to virtue signal that they pay a "fair wage", and pocket what would have been tips. My buddy turned it down because he's a great worker and could make more elsewhere.

I just checked their reviews - terrible service, terrible food, and everyone hates the 24% surcharge.

Running a steakhouse is incredibly expensive. In addition to the normal costs of most restaurants, you have to have a dedicated humidity controlled walk in refrigerator for dry aging your beef.

Is a $100.00 minimum per person reasonable?

Yes. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

If you think it is too expensive, you probably shouldn't be going out to steakhouses in general.

And if your just upset because you can't hit the minimum, you aren't drinking enough.
