The Mormons wear "magic underwear" like Jews wear a yamaka... purportedly to remind them they are surrounded by God.. or in the case of the yamaka... that God is above you.
They are a reminder of the covenants the Mormons make in the temples.
It used to be that they had runes all over them and there are stories of how magic underwear saved the lives of members.
In this day and age, the "temple garments" are sans runes.
Still, no one is ever going to let them forget the "magic underwear" that might miraculously save you from the flames of a burning car while you're trapped inside or something.
