I tell this to every "conservative" who calls campaigning on a "gibs for the children's schools" platform.

I am teaching my own, and doing a better job than any publicly funded teacher has ever done ever. I want my money back.

Interesting enough if you home school your kids the state will give you the money that would normally go to the school for your kids. Just take it to court I have a friend who does this then uses that money to hire a tutor

Some states stipulate what curricula you can and cannot spend that money on. All of mine is not approved.

If schools worked - a big if - and if collectivism worked - another huge if, and the reason for the first if - you could justify collectivizing education. But we've learned how rot inevitably creeps into anything collectivized anything touches.

That’s part of the drive behind the school choice movement.

Some parents want to be able to drop their kids off at a school they prefer, not the one assigned to their address. That’s taking their money to a different school.

Some parents want to school their own kids. That’s keeping their money and doing it themselves.

In most of the US you can do neither of these things. That is changing.

Everyone pays into everything would be ok with me if the money actually went to what they said it was supposed to... roads, schools, etc. But our tax dollars do not go to the things they are supposed to. And personal property tax is a complete scam.

Another perspective:

If you live in a town or city, you do not want children out and about, play around, and getting into trouble.

So you pay taxes to keep them in school, get an education, and greatly reduce the likelihood that they will become delinquents. You will also hugely reduce the likelihood that they will be criminals as adults.

So you happily pay those taxes to create a school system to get the children educated and adjusted to become productive, law abiding, denizens.

HOWEVER...none of us signed up to have our 6 year olds taught about homosexual attraction, chopping their dicks off, chopping their tits off, and why some men want to paint their faces like clowns and wear dresses.

We've gone from: "We need to educate our children because our grandparents did not get this opportunity."

To:

"Let's groom their kids. Let's mentally, sexually, and emotionally abuse their kids because we are miserable and fucked up and kids are the best target to abuse."
