I know most of the people who follow this sub have most likely already seen this video, but I mostly just shared it because I wanted to add my 2 cents.
I think Dr. Crawford missed out on a very obvious interpretation of this name, which is "Alf Odr".
When reading the sagas and stories, I came to disagree with the general interpretation of "Alf" being a race of beings, and to me, it makes more sense for it to just be a general word for spirit. That's why just about everything is an Alf. Aesir are Alfs, Vanir are Alfs, Dwarves are Alfs, etc.
Then of course, Odr is one of Odin's many names, and just means madness or frenzy.
Meaning, by my translation Alfodr would mean "Spiritual Madness" or "Spiritual Frenzy", which for Odin, makes a hell of a lot more sense.
