Dec 21st will be the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.
As some versions tell it, Sunna (the sun) is chased across the sky by the wolf, Sköll (Treachery). The wolf comes closest on this day. Eventually it will catch and eat her, leaving the world in darkness. But this time, one hopes, she will escape and gain distance and bring us a great summer.
We've got more cold months ahead of us, but this evening I'm toasting the return of light.
Cheers.
