The guy who writes this seems cool he keeps chickens.

Interesting. The image and description of the chakras made me think of Yggdrasil. Nidhogg gnawing at the roots, the eagle up top. The squirrel. Plus the four stags make seven.

There is a theory floating around that Yggdrasil was not actually an ash tree. It got that description in modern reconstructions because it's described somewhere as a bristle ash. However, Ash trees do not have bristles and that just sounds like a kenning. So some suppose it's a giant Yew tree, which would much better as a symbol of death, rebirth, and secret knowledge owing to its weird way of growing and its toxicity.

Yeah, I've heard the "Yggdrasil is a yew" theory as well. It's toxin is apparently hallucinogenic in small amounts, and it also sheds it's toxin during the warmer months, meaning people sitting under it will have "spiritual journeys". The possible explanation I've heard for why it's called Askr (Ash) Yggdrasil in the kenning is that Ash trees are synonymous with men, because of Ask from Ask and Embla, so they're basically saying the tree has a masculine presence. We may never know, though.
