Not long ago I got a surprise check in the mail. Apparently, years ago, I was exposed to polluted drinking water while an active duty Marine at Camp LeJeune, NC The check was my part of a settlement for being exposed to this water. That was the first I had heard about this. OK, I can't do anything about that water so I might as well do something fun with some of this windfall. I purchased an expensive "man toy," online, a firearm that would normally be well out of my price range. I bought it online and had it sent to an FFL holder I had used before in a nearby town. A few days later I got a call from someone at the gun store. She said that they weren't currently receiving any guns for transfer so she had sent the gun back. I called the number I had for the store and found out that they have multiple locations and, of course, I didn't know which location I had called or which location the gun had actually came from. So, here I am. No gun and no money. Hopefully things will work out somehow but I don't know...

Time to start creating a paper trail - send email first, then call if they do not answer to email.

  1. Contact the shop where you brought the gun from and ask them which courier company they used to ship the package and to give you all the information available on them, including contact details.

  2. Then contact the shop that refused to accept the package and ask them if the same compay that delivered the package is also the one that is shipping it back - it likely is, but still confirm.

  3. Then, you should reach out to the courier company and find out all you can from them. They are the one's who have your gun, they are the one's who know where it will end up. In case they do not want to talk to you since technically you are not their client, contact the shop from where you order the package and demand the sort this out with the courier and get back to you ASAP.
