I reviewed 5.7x28 ballistics awhile back when contemplating a purchase. Compared to .22 WMR, the 5.7 loses. Both are generally based around a 40 grain bullet with other loadings available for both. The 5.7 is typically loaded to 1,700 ft/sec and 250 ft-lb (at muzzle) specs, while the .22 hits 1,875/300 respectfully. 5.7 costs around $0.40 vs. $0.20 per round for .22 WMR. So .22 WMR is the winner in these areas.
However the 5.7 has a more tactical gun focus, and there are some cool options available. .22 WMR has some tactical models available, but classic revolver and lever action products are heavy focuses. I ultimately went with .22 WMR due to ammo price and availability, but would love to get some range time with this pistol - and an FN PS90 too!
I've never fired 5.7 pistols at all. I use 22LR to teach new shooters.
I wish they'd make a pocket pistol like the bobcat or pt22 in 22 mag. My EDC is a 22lr, but I'd much prefer a 22 mag. Even 17 hmr would be interesting. Id use 25 ACP but it's ungodly expensive
