@Anticlutch pretty well nailed it, but I'd add another consideration... 7 - Customization. I pretty much like my hardware clean and unencumbered, but there is a littany of OEM parts and accessories available for the AR-15 platform that makes it attractive for do-it-yourselfers - should you want to go that way. M-14 not so much.
