As a younger man, I accidentally ended up on some farmer's property after exploring a national forest. Little did I know that said farmer had been thieved from not long ago. Also consider this; if you live in a free state, particularly in a rural area, you'll see grampa carrying on his hip going into a grocery store. If you don't use a right you lose it. I think it's fucking great to see people open carrying- I know that they are trustworthy and responsible.
