Everyone is prone to bad dreams now and then, whether it's a monster chasing you or being lost in a dark and spooky house. Nothing out of the ordinary, just run of the mill nightmares.

A few years back I started carrying daily, and I noticed a distinct and completely unexpected change to my dreams. I still have bad dreams occasionally, but they're no longer scary. If anything they're bad action movie comical. Some 8' tall hairy monster with sharp teeth is after me? Instead of running, I just draw and drop the ugly sonofabitch. Lost in a spooky house full of dark rooms holding indescribable horrors? Draw, kick down the door, and be grateful dreams can't give me tinnitus. A bad dream about someone breaking into my house? Those used to freak me out, now they're comical because there is nothing scary about dreaming you're shouting "You broke into the wrong goddamn rec room!".

Do you shoot in your dreams?

It's the potential for danger having it's effect. It's not the gun itself causing the dreams, the gun is just a vivid physical reminder of the subconscious awareness/fear you have for whatever danger you may have to shoot.

My nightmares start when I wake up. There is no escape.

You got me thinking about my dreams, and it turns out that I resolve most of my dream fights by beating the bastard with a chair which is always conveniently nearby. I never did this IRL, so I have no idea where I got that.

I stopped dialing 911.
