You are an entertainment program for extra-dimensional beings who like to surf around for stupid shit. When it is paused you have no way to know. Deja-vu is when someone is hovering the mouse over a different moment on your timeline and getting a small preview window into it. If they rewind you have no way to know what has already been viewed. Your program may be viewed to the end or cut short. It could even start in the middle and you would not know any differently since that point in your program already has all of your memories. Those thoughts you think you hear are just commentary from the viewers.
