Haven't watched the video yet but the reason (I think) for this happening is the real world sucks ass. Period. Nostalgia for retro computers is probably my sickness. It was a time when I was happy and enjoyed life vs the AI/monitoring garbage Windows we have now. Nobody wants it but everyone has to use it. Going to work sucks. No one wants to do it but little choice is offered.
Lard asses going to Disney because they cannot maintain (or find) a real relationship? That's it.
If I won a lottery tomorrow and had fuck you money for the rest of my life, I would do nothing for at least a solid year. Maybe a few personal projects and go to a few places I've always wanted but doing any work? Negative.
The real world sucks and escaping it is the only viable option for most people.

aye, that is a ton of it but there are other interesting observations. It really gets into the psychology of escapism.
Escapism is the correct term here. They are about to have people live in VR worlds controlled by AI. No one will leave the house, just put on a headset and log on for life. Of course, people like you and I will reject that wholesale. If you've seen the anime "Ghost in the Shell", you will have noticed people have implants so they can "jack in" to the VR world without any headset. Just a plug. Pretty sure that won't be used for evil.
