Nah - more like dropping your favorite toy in a pile of shit. You can clean it off, but you'll always remember it covered in shit....that it smelled like shit, that you got shit on your hands while cleaning it off.

Wine tasting may have been fun, but now you have to go support a bunch of known leftists with their tranny and homo flags flying, surrounded by a bunch of douche bags. That's forever what i'll associate it with.

Another example. I've found a running gear place I love. Small business making great products. Loved them. Then Ahmed Arbery died while "jogging," and this stupid ass running store couldn't stop going on about how woke they were, how everyone deserved to be able to run without fear of death, how white man bad. I still love their stove, but having that shoved in my face has forever turned me off from them.

Slightly different, but there are several parallels. In the Tracksmith case, it's a company becoming a disappointment by shoving ideals that I don't agree with down my throat. In the case of OP, it's a contingency of disappointments in humanity associating themselves and becoming the prime focal point - what is now associated with the activity.
