So Apple iPhones are the only thing shops repair?
Some shops see a majority of apple products because many people have them and they treat their 1500 shiny like it was a rock they picked up off the street.
And if you exclude cheap phones which are more affordable to replace than have professionally repaired Apple has an even hirer market share.
According to Louis Rossmann who runs his own repair shop and has a popular YoutTube channel that covers repair of Apple products from an edutainment point of view, the reason Apple devices are favored by repair shops is the limited number of part variations. Apple has a limited number of screen SKUs across their entire product line of iPhones. Android phones come from many manufacturers which makes for a huge number of display SKUs. You can stock all the Apple screens and be reasonably assured the inventory will sell because only one company makes iPhones. Android phone screens may not sell because there are so many competing models from different manufacturers. It's just cheaper and easier to go with Apple to ensure you have a steady customer base and parts supply.
Louis Rossmann is a major fighter in the Right to Repair movement who is pushing for more repairable devices and less government interference that protects the monopolies of manufacturers like Apple and John Deere. And just because people will ask, he's not jewish. He tells stories about his bad interactions with jews and sometimes comes close to naming them in some of his videos. If anyone has information proving he is jewish, please post it so I can retract my statement on him.
I was just questioning the whole "Apple's change will destroy the whole repair industry" line that was put out as I don't see that happening. A shift away from Apple products are a more likely result if Apple doesn't change.
