I don't care what my family might want, I don't want them to have access to my devices or email after I die. Apple did the right thing by refusing.
That's your right, but I think the father wasn't tech savvy (as mentioned in the video), he was using the iPad as a camera (and probably ebooks/mapping since he was a hiker) and never backed up its content, especially all the family pictures it contains.
So I think his wife has the right to ask for help to recover them.
You think I should get out of bed on a cold night and start up the big machine just to toss one off? Barbarian.
