Lots of big grapefruits were selectively propagated to thrive in the Rio Grande Valley.

I hated the pussy proportions of the linked recipe so:

2 Texas bourbon (Milam & Greene, 1835, Garrison Bros, Balcones...) 1 grapefruit juice (from the container, because I doubt you have a grapefruit hanging around... but if you do!) 1/2 simple syrup

(I know you always shake citrus, but fuck'em I did a mixing glass)

Strain over rocks in a rocks glass.

And! a bing cherry to garnish.

Who the fuck carries around basil leaves?

Grapefruit juice is pretty powerful stuff for something subtle like bourbon. Sounds like a way to get rid of a bottle of really bad bourbon, but I can't see any other appeal to it. But good on you for trying it, you never know for sure until you try

probably better with fresh squeezed juice

Not my favorite but another way to enjoy bourbon at least. It's a bourbon Greyhound but methinks it could be something more
