Featured pic is of unopened bottle and I assure you, it does not remain that way.

Queen Majesty: Cocoa Ghost Hot Sauce. This one is pretty damned good. The color had me intrigued which is why I picked up the bottle to read ingredients as was very pleased, so I bought it. I am not disappointed in the sauce as a sauce by any stretch - it is outstanding. There is a blurb on the bottle: "great with BBQ, rice dishes, eggs, sandwiches, and also on everything else." I concur on all points; made jerk chicken and pork chops for supper last night - wow! My jerk stands on its own but this sauce added a dimension.

It starts off slow, minima 6k and hits maxima a few seconds later - I would say this sauce comes in at maxima at around 80k SHU (maybe 100, but that's pushing it) - for reference: a typical Jalapeno is ~6k; Serrano ~20k; Thai ~40k; and the orange Habs from the grocery ~100-150k (the baseline habs I grow, and eat off the bush, are 400-600k). Let's get into it:

Ingredients:

White Vinegar; Pineapple Juice; Ghost Peppers; Habanero Peppers; Sweet Onions; Garlic Cloves; Ginger Root; Dried Plums; black Cocoa; Chipotle; Pasilla; Extra Virgin Olive Oil; and Salt & Spices

I have to admit - this is a fucking clean list, almost like I made it! From their page: "Our sauces are handmade WITHOUT sugar, xantham gum, or preservatives." Should delineate 'no added sugar'

NOTE: In doing the ingredient list, I did notice that these folks did a collab with The Heatonist to create this recipe - that gave me pause (I didn't see this before I bought it) so I did some cursory searching about Queen Majesty and found they have partner orgs... (Hunger Free America; One Love Community Fridge). I am on the fence if I will buy from Queen again. They do not specify any proceeds from buying their sauce goes to supporting these partner orgs, and again, I only did a cursory search so... yeah. I will make my version this season and see how it goes.

If you have no reservations about their partner orgs, get some of this sauce and give a go, you won't regret it.
