I love chocolate habs... I bought a few packs od seeds last year for tihs year's haul... 3 seeds sown, 3 sprouts, and thus 3 seedlings went out - it's been a terrible growing season in zone 5b - at least in my experience this year.

Of the 3 chocolate habs that went out, only one turned out to be chocolate, and as you can see, the first chocolate lightnings I have ever seen. i was dismayed at first due to the 'lightning' aspect since I grew yellows and reds a few years back and was very disappointed. That said, when I harvested these, I decided to try one so I could design a flavor profile for a sauce (I will post that next).

Hot damn, these are one of the best peppers I have ever had - one of the two at the top spectrum for what I consider a popper (pick off the plant and eat); the other one is a Caribbean Red Habanero (about the same flavor and heat). These little fuckers are super fruity and sweet with a follow-up heat that is unmistakably habanero - full lip burn. I would rate these at about 450K SHU but are now one of my top 5 de facto grows going forward.

I did make a cooked sauce from what is pictured - I very rarely make a 'cooked' sauce but it turned out awesome. Will post its makeup next.
