Bricking a phone because you tried jailbreaking it is a lot different from bricking your car, that would be a very expensive mistake.

You don't "brick" a car...

What you'd be doing is no different than frying the ECU of a regular car. You just go get a replacement from a wrecked model at a wreckers, and the rest of the car is good to go.

I've honestly no clue how to deal with computer hardware components in cars beyond servicing, diagnosing, and replacing them yet. However, you shouldn't need to brick your own roadworthy Tesla to pull off jailbreaking them. Just go on ebay or some other reputable auction site. There are plenty of Tesla owners who've already gotten their cars wrecked in accidents selling them for parts when the insurance company totals them. That's dozens of insurance totalled Teslas with potentially fully functional car computer systems to work with.
